Ohio Top 10 Places To See

Ohio is a great state, with lots of places to see. In this blog post, I share my top ten favorite places in Ohio that you should visit!


1. Cedar Point- Sandusky, OH

Cedar Point is known as one of the biggest thrill parks in the USA, and has recently been voted number one for 10 years in a row. It's definitely a must see Ohio place to visit! Plus, you get to experience one of their newest roller coasters, Maverick, which has the steepest drop out of any other roller coaster.


2. Ohio State University- Columbus, OH

Maybe Ohio State is not an Ohio place to visit exactly, but it's still really cool! Ohio State has it's own airport for small planes, and their stadium is the third largest stadium in the USA. Ohio State University attracts over 58,000 students (including myself), I believe Ohio deserves to be recognized on this Ohio places list.


3. The Ohio State Reformatory- Mansfield, OH

The Ohio State Reformatory is known for it's role in the movie Shawshank Redemption. It was also Ohio State Reformatory that inspired the movie, making Ohio even more famous to Ohio places to go!


4. The Pro Football Hall of Fame- Canton, OH

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is another Ohio place you should visit if you're a football fanatic. Ohio has many NFL teams, even though Ohio State is not technically an NFL team. Maybe Ohio doesn't seem like all that great of a place on first impression, but Ohio goes deep! It's Ohio places go to show that Ohio really is the best state ever.


5. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame- Cleveland, OH

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a great Ohio place to tour. Ohio has lots of history in the music industry, I mean Ohio even has it's own Music Hall of Fame! Ohio also has been home to many rock legends such as Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders, The Isley Brothers, Devo, John Legend, and The Ohio Players. Ohio really means music to Ohio places!


6. Cedar Bog- Ohio, OH

This nature preserve is home to many rare species of plant life and animals such as the massasauga rattlesnake, barred owl, and mud turtle. It is Ohio places like this that make Ohio a great place to visit year round!


7. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium- Powell, OH

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has been ranked best zoo for several years in a row now. There are over 7,000 animals including the pandas which were given by China back in 2009 (I believe). This Ohio place has lots of cool animals you should totally see your next time you're in Ohio!

8. Ohio Penitentiary- Columbus, Ohio

The Ohio Penitentiary is home to some of Ohio's greatest criminals. This Ohio place has been the location for multiple movies, including Harry Houdini who performed at the Ohio Penitentiary in 1913. While this Ohio penitentiary isn't as lively today, you still get to experience something that people can only do in Ohio!


9. Rock Mill- Gahanna, OH

Rock Mill is an amazing restaurant located in Gahanna that offers many different dishes and great service. I'm not sure if it should be considered one of Ohio places to visit... But it should definitely be visited by anyone living in or even near Ohio! It's one of my favorite restaurants, Ohio places or not Ohio places.


10. Ohio Statehouse- Columbus, Ohio

The Ohio Statehouse is home to the Ohio Government. It was built in 1839 and is currently being used for meetings by Ohio state legislators, but you're allowed to tour this great building during certain hours! The Ohio Statehouse also houses four large murals depicting important parts of Ohio history that are beautiful works of art.
